Birthday Goodies

I know that everyone is busy getting ready for the big turkey dinner tomorrow. Some of you are probably plotting your attack for the sales on "Black" Friday! I on the other hand am busy getting ready to celebrate the shops 15th birthday on Wednesday, December 3rd! (Lots of time for planning, my daughter is cooking the turkey this year!)

We have a special way for you to join in the birthday celebrating fun! Click on the "comment" button below this post, the one right next to the cute little pencil. Leave a comment about our store, the staff, a memory or mention a favorite class, teacher or project and you will have the chance to win a $15 Gift Certificate! We are looking forward to hearing from you. 15 years has garnered us an amazing amount of memories, warm customer friendships and more than our fair share of crazy stories!
You have from now until midnight December 3rd to leave a comment, which servers as your entry into the drawing for the prize. On December 4th we will use a random number generator to select the winner and post the winning name here on the blog. Don't forget to check back here on the 4th to see if you are the winner and provide contact information so that we can issue your gift certificate!
Those of you that shop our brick and mortar store will want to make plans to stop by in person. We have lots of surprises in store for you! Mark your calendar, Wednesday, December 3rd!
Happy Turkey Day!

I visited your shop before you were open and you invited me in. We spoke for awhile and you let me walk around the store. You probably don't remember but I knew it would be my favorite shop and I wasn't wrong. Congrats on 15 years, I miss you all.

I really like your store. Three years ago I bought the fabric and pattern to make my first quilt....what a wonderful adventure!

One of my most memorable memories was my first visit to the shop. I was in awe at the layout of the shop and the arrangement of the fabric by colors and styles and collections. Karen and staff continue to keep the shop layout interesting and each time I visit the shop I need to take my traditional walk to every corner and room. I particularly love the chance to see what Karen's newest project is. Its obvious that every staff member enjoys working at the shop and take care to be sure that each customer leaves the shop satisfied with their selections and purchases. Congratulations on your 15th anniversary. Debbie Kuntz

My adventure with the quilt retreat to Sandscrest last winter was the most memorable of my quilting experiences (so far). The "sisterhood" was fantastic, it was incredible to be able to quilt 24 hours a day and have someone ELSE do the cooking ... it was a totally "ME" experience ... one which you don't get too often. Thank you so much for making those arrangements ... it was an incredible treat! Just another special thing that The Quilt Company does for its customers!

I have always enjoyed my visits to the shop. If you are looking for inspiration, it is hanging up everywhere. Then you just have to look at all of the displays. That is when the problem arises ---- what do I want to make first ! My husband really likes the shop, he often shops for me all by himself. They know him as 'the scrapbag man' Congradulations Karen ! Proud to be an 'original' customer, and always remember the fun coming to classes and shopping with your Aunt Jean. There is always something I buy, so much so that I think my sewing room is a TQC storage room! Thanks for a wonderful store where I meet friends, get inspired and buy lots of stuff. Ruth Anthony

Congrats on 15 years! I didn't live in the area that long ago, and since this past July I'm in the Lower Burrell area - still within shopping distance, but no longer 2 miles from the store. :-(

I hope to make it to the sale on Wednesday!

When I make it to your store, I feel like a "kid in a candy store". I always come home with ideas; a real motivation.

Yours is my absolute favorite quilt shop, I live in Lordstown, OH and so look forward to any chance to visit The Quilt Company. You and your staff are so very special. My friends and I are hoping the snow holds off, so that we can be there on Wednesday.

Congratulations on your 15th Anniversary. A trip to the shop is always inspiring, and dangerous for my debit card balance.I never fail to find a new gadget or "gotta have it"
fabric when I can get there. My fave thing is the evening hours 2 nights a week since I work Mon-Sat during the day, and can't often get there during typical business hours! Here's to 15 more!

hope you will be open later on Wed so i can get there.

Hi Karen,
I was in your shop for the first time on Friday, Nov 28. I was visiting my hometown of Pgh and my cousin took me to your shop. I was in heaven!!! And, I spent quite a bit on kits and fabric. I didn't realize until I returned home and looked at your website that you are such a famous quilter and designer of fabric for Timeless Treasure. you can be sure that every time I visit Pgh, I will make it a point to stop and shop at the Quilting Company. Can't believe I never knew there was a quilt shop so close to my relatives in the 20 years I have been quilting. They probably kept it a secret from me knowing my addiction to fabric. Congratulations on 15 years!!

Congratulations on 15 years. You have grown and evolved to truly a "destination" of the Pittsburgh area where I am proud to take my visiting quilter friends. I remember the watercolor wreath class - great fun! The displays are beautiful and inspiration is everywhere. Karen has been so generous to our Project Linus group with donations of fabric - you are always looking for ways to contribute to the community.

The Quilt Company is the best! I am always inspired at each visit with all the projects. I usually can hardly wait to get home to try one or two of them. Recently I visited the "Big Quilt Store" in New Hamphsire and expected the same helpful and cheerful help I am get at the Quilt Company. Not so! Was very disappointed and realize how fortunate I am to have a quilt store that encourages and inspires at each visit so close to home. The staff, fabrics and projects along with the organization of the store is wonderful. Keep up the good work. Happy Birthday and Congratulations!

Hmm...a 15th birthday, as I recall, was in that not-quite-adult-not-quite-kid stage, so perhaps a 15th anniversary would suit. Let's see....15th anniversary is traditionally "crystal". So, shall I wax poetic about how the colors of your fabrics are like the spectrum of colors cast when sunlight illuminates crystal? Shall I comment on the similarities between the ringing sound or crystal and the copious laughter at the Quilt Company? Or shall I simply raise my crystal champagne flute and wish you a very happy Crystal Anniversary? Cheers!

I still look at my Angelina Fiber pin made one Monday evening this past summer! Haven't got up the nerve to actually wear it yet....but I sure enjoyed making it.

Happy Birthday! Several years ago my father "discovered" The Quilt Company. He couldn't wait to show me the "quilt store he found". Now dad didn't quilt, but he knew it was my passion and he actually wandered into the store to check it out. Dad is now snuggled in the comfort of the Lord's Quilt, but every year when I visit Pittsburgh it is mandatory that I make a visit to the "quilt store that Dad found". Now, I don't know the ladies in the store, but I feel enveloped by family when I am there. And, of course, even though we have quilt stores in New England, The Quilt Company (i.e., "the quilt store that Dad found") is my very favorite quilt store. Thanks so much for your incredible store, your expert assistance, and your constant inspiration.

Happy 15th Birthday! Your shop and all the "girls" are the best! Always good for a lot of fun and laughs to make your sides hurt! Here's to the next 15.....mt

My absolute favorite activity at the Quilt Company is "First Saturday". I love seeing all the new fabrics, patterns and notions and getting great ideas for new projects. And where else can you make a quilt top for $5? My family now knows NOT to schedule any activities for the first Saturday morning of the month, because I have to go to TQC!

Happy Birthday Quilt Company. The shop is great and workers even greater. I would be with you on Wednesday but I have to work. Wish you were open that evening. But congatulations. Jeanine

The Quilt Company is a wonderful store, but it's the people that make it so special. Karen and her staff are incredibly helpful and friendly.

I love the First Friday/First Saturday sessions and the FREE Christmas demo sessions have been great - I have already made 12 placemats and 4 potato bags.

I also enjoy Karen's wit - even if you are not a quilter, going to one of her sessions or reading her newsletter column or blog is worth it --lots of smiles and laughter.

Your shop and all of it's workers were a real "Godsend" to me when I had to stay in Allison Park for breast cancer treatments. I took every class I could fit into during those three months and enjoyed every one. I must admit only one of the projects is yet to be completed. I live on an USAF base in Japan and have shared many techniques, supplies, and just great thoughts about your shop with my guild here. Thanks for the continuing support and warm greeting everytime I am able to stop by while on vacation. 2010 is the magical year - we will retire and move to Baden. That is not nearly as far as Japan!!!

Congratulations on your 15th Anniversary of your store. When I come to visit family, one of my stops is the quilt store. There I can find all kind of new fabric and ideas that I can bring back to New Jersey. I really enjoy the blogs as well as the e-mails. Thanks for all the help when I come to the store.

Happy 15th Birthday! I love your store... I am so thrilled to have such a great quilt store so close to my home. I wanted to learn to quilt since I was a teenager and thanks to you and your wonderful staff I am enjoying this hobby every moment I can. I have learned so much from you and your staff since the first time I visited your store over 8 years ago! Thank you for sharing all your great creative talents, allowing us to be a part of your world and your friendly ways with your customers.
